It was so much more like the Camino I know and love today and I think that was almost certainly down to being able to stop in an Albergue last night. All meals were communal and we had different tables and different company for each meal. That meant this morning, when were all kicked out for 8:00, we were able to join and walk with pilgrims that we had met yesterday 🙂 We spent a lot of the morning walking and talking with 3 ladies from New Zealand, a mother, her sister and her daughter. It must be a lovely way for a family to bond.
Mmmmm, which way here then ??Choice of routes today, as is so often the case with the del Norte and along with most of the other pilgrims we chose to do the coastal route. A very good choice as it turned out because once again the scenery was quite stunning. The northern coast in Spain has some beautiful spots and is very unappreciated by the British.
Lovely little beaches and coves

After the lovely walk along the seafront and across the beaches
it was onto the ferry for the final leg into Santander
5km ferry crossingSantander is a surprisingly large city, surprising to me anyway, but although it has some nice buildings, I’m not sure I would rush to come back to visit it again. It just isn’t as Spanish as some other places we’ve encountered.
I have to admit the huge ice creams may tempt me a little though 😁
Staple food for every good pilgrim 🍦🍦
Glad things are looking better. Coastline looks beautiful
Hope accommodation goes okay now
