I’m sure a person can only sweat so much before they just melt completely and become a puddle on the ground. I’m think we are very nearly reaching that point π
Last week a pilgrim, this week a puddle
Rather scarily the BBC weather forecast says the temperature here is rising quite considerably the weekend after this one. Fingers crossed it’s not accurate.
The path has come away from the coast for a while now and apparently we don’t meet it again for around 80km. This hasn’t particularly toned down the hills but it has meant that the walking has been through more forest and greenery than previously. I keep hoping to find some decent blackberries along the route but compared to ours in the hedgerows at the moment the Spanish ones are very insignificant and dried up looking.

Just as we entered Markina Xemien there was the amazing San Miguel de Arretxinaga, a hexagonal Church built around some huge megalithic rocks.
Pictures don’t do the inside of this church justice but the figure in the middle is lifesize
Once again we were unable to find accommodation in Markina at the end of the day but we’re getting better prepared for this now and after a quick beer we got a taxi to a hotel about 6 miles away in the very busy town of Eibar.
Tortilla and egg & bacon Pintxos and vino tinto in Eibar
PS Helen was the only one to come close in the mystery photo competition yesterday. They were of course, walnuts π
Great photos again Derek! Those rocks are fantastic β what a size! Well done Helen for getting the photo quiz correct! Ooh, hope you donβt all melt into a Camino puddle of sweat! Happy walking for tomorrow all! π Sue xx
