Absolute disaster with the accommodation situation today. There was no beds within 10 miles of Deba. I managed to get somewhere eventually, only to get a taxi out there to find that Hotels. Com had defaulted for some unknown reason to Oct 17th.
Luckily the Casa Rural took pity on us and found us alternative accommodation and even gave us a lift out to the new place. Ever so good of them, but this situation is no good at all for us.

Aside from that problem, today’s walk was jolly hard work but rewarded us with some excellent views of the dinosaur coast due to us taking the alternative section along the GR121. The drawback here was that it was up and down, up and down and up and down, non stop. By about 4:00 I was really regretting having just an ice cream and a coke for lunch 🤢.

Getaria was a lovely little town, sticking out on its own little peninsula with a very modernistic new looking museum

What an adventure! Derek you’re doing a great job with the planning and accommodation side of things. Hope the detour for accommodation doesnt add KMs onto your walk today? Liking the “No cagar” sign:). Good luck today, Becky x

Wow! Couldn’t think the scenery could get better but it has! Shame about the accommodation; let’s hope the further in your walk the easier the accommodation situation becomes. OK, where’s your Snickers bar when you need it (ice cream and coke for lunch)! Everything crossed for today’s accommodation. Happy walking! 😊 Sue xx
