Day 14 Soto de la Mar to Cudon 14.3ml 1764ft – Totals 196.1ml 23735ft

Breakfast this morning at the Posada was not served until 9:00 so we were in two minds whether to hang on or push on at 8:00ish as per normal. We decided to treat ourselves and have a little lie in with a late start. How glad we were as it was the best breakfast we have had since arriving in Spain and on top of that if was served in the garden with the nicest of views ๐Ÿ™‚.Still on the alternative coastal path following the Senda Litoral we were going nicely until suddenly I realised that I had walked into a cobweb spanning the whole path at waist height and had a HUGE brown and white striped spider coming for my blood. Luckily, holding my nerve well, I managed to waft my hands about like a madman and left the spider sitting on a nearby bush. I did attempt to take a picture of it but it just sat there, legs crossed and I’m sure I heard it say “fancy your luck pilgrim ?” I had no choice, I did what any gentleman would do……..I pretended I was having a problem with my camera, stepped aside, and let Barbara take the lead incase there were any more ahead ๐Ÿฅบ.Once again the rocks and coastline were really quite dramatic
At one stage I thought my luck was really inBut I’m very sorry to say that the beach was the only bare thing there. Eventually we had to leave the coastal path and come inland towards Boo De Pielagos where we met a couple of very friendly pilgrims going the other wayArrived at our destination about 17:00. Tomorrow we walk to Santillana del Mar, supposedly a very lovely town that’s been used in lots of films. Finally I just thought I would finish off with a fine picture of a cracking steaming dungheap spotted today. I just love it when they almost self combust and this one was well on the way to doing just that

  1. What variety you had today, as your blog and the wonderful pix show. So pleased you managed a lie in – so well deserved. Just one question- what was in the bottle on the breakfast table?

    1. Hi Val, nice to hear from you. The empty bottle contained fresh orange juice and the almost full bottle to the left contains olive oil to go with the salt on the toast ๐Ÿ™‚. Lovely

  4. From here on in Barbara shall be known as โ€œThe Spider Watcherโ€! I can just see you wafting your arms (and trying not to scream out loud) trying to get rid of the spider! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Yet again fantastic scenery which means equally fantastic photos! Glad you got a lie in and had a good breakfast. I did notice on the nudist beach placard that there are no dogs, horses, ball games, litter and fires allowed but nothing about cameras! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Hope todayโ€™s walk was equally good! Happy walking! ๐Ÿ˜Š Sue x
