Unquera wasn’t much to write home about, just a town with a main road through it basically, however the road was lined with cafés and bars.We left the Cantabria region today and quietly stepped into the Asturias region as we crossed the Rio Deva in the lovely glow only the early or late sun can provide.
Lots of alternative routes on the Camino Del Norte and once again we chose the slightly longer but much more scenic coastal route. If nothing else, it got us off the hard surfaces for a while.

When we walked past them all we got was the occasional lovely cool breeze coming out of the rather small holes but apparently when there’s a high tide the water can shoot 40 foot up into the air. Quite spectacular to see I would think. It was good to eventually see Llanes in the distance today as it was yet another 18 mile day with lots of ascent and seemed to go on forever.
View towards LlanesWe are having a day off here in Llanes tomorrow as we are both exhausted and I think a good days rest will do us the world of good and also allow us to catch up with some washing and some minor niggles with our feet. It will also be a day off for the blog so here’s some other pictures from today to be going on with 🙂

Glad you are both having a day off today – recharge batteries ready to go again!
As usual, lovely photos – especially liked the one of the Asturian style. 😊
Shame you weren’t at the spout holes at high tide, that would have been something to see I’m sure! (Oh well, next time hey?! 😄)
Happy resting up day! 😊 Sue x

The strange thing is, the 2 croissants, grapes, Brie, 2 packs of Mentors, a bottle of Tango, a bottle of water and a small bottle of hand wash altogether cost less than that goats cheese alone yesterday. I think the goats cheese woman saw us coming 😬🥺 xx

She most certainly did didn’t she! Guess there’s no competition around those parts – it’s not like you can go to the nearest Co-Op! 😄 xx
