Day 2 San Sebastian to Zarautz 18.7 ml 2200ft. Total 35.5ml Ascent 5400ft

Interesting answer from our Albergue last night. When somebody asked if they had wifi the answer was “we don’t have WiFi, that’s why it’s paradise here” πŸ™‚ The vast majority of people in the Albergue last night were youngsters (under 30 that is) which surprised me because the vast majority on the Francis were around my age group (over 30 that is πŸ™„) and I started wondering if it was because this was classed as a tougher Camino, however, much to my relief today we started overtaking people and that gives you so much more opportunity to slow down and chat for a while on the way past. Gerald and Barbara keep telling me to walk ahead so that I can walk at my natural pace and the ideal opportunity came today as we met this very well walked Italian lady who walked the same pace as me and we walked and talked for a good 3 hours before stopping at a coffee shop and waiting for B & G to catch up. I’m very pleased to say Gerald had a far better day today after clearing some heavy items out of his bag this morning although we were still fairly done in when we arrived at our destination. A slight panic set in then as all the hostels were full and we were very lucky to get an apartment for 3 for the night through good old booking.com. Walking on to the next town really didn’t appeal 😱 Anyway, all happy and settled now, here’s a few pictures from the day πŸ™‚
Looking down on San Sebastian
Good old Don Quixote
On route Orio
Only another 787 km or so πŸ™‚
Passed en-route. Everything a pilgrim could need
Zarautz, our final resting place (so to speak)

  1. Wow! Were the youngsters walkers or holiday makers? Let’s hope you manage to find space in an albergue tomorrow night! Still loving the photos/blog! 😊
