We did toy with the idea of getting the bus up to Gijon and then walking from Gijon to Aviles as it was a little shorter than Oviedo to Aviles but the book reckoned Oviedo to Ardiles was a lot nicer route so we stuck with our first plan. And we were very glad we did, until the last 6 or 7 miles anyway. Up until then it had been a lovely route, over hill and down dale with some excellent views back over Oviedo. For the first 3 or 4 miles we even walked to music as there was obviously some fitness class or some such thing going on just on the outskirts of Oviedo. I can’t imagine how loud the music must have been back at ground level but we could hear it loud and clear at least a mile away, if not more. I bet the neighbours loved it 😁😖.
26° was forecast for today, ‘feels like 28’ and it was certainly a warm one. 27° forecast for tomorrow 🥵. I blame climate warming for these excessive heats in September. I must have a word with Greta Thunderbird.
Plenty of bars and cafes on route though, although most disappointingly we didn’t have time to try all of them out 🙂
I mentioned earlier that it was lovely until the last few miles, which was all like the picture below
I was most cheered with the sighting of this van but nobody came and offered us any 😒

Oh no! I may be wrong but I think you may have caught the “oh my, Sue’s got her days mixed up” bug! 😱 I think we have Day 24 followed by Day 23 (but then I may be wrong! 😂).

Shame about the on-road walking but I hope what you got from the beginning of your walk outweighed the last few miles (I know, tell that to your poor joints and muscles! 😄).
Donut guy a bit mean not to offer a little taste of his wares to a couple of tired and weary pilgrims! 😩

What a shame you didn’t get to spend some time in Oviedo – UNESCO World Heritage sites, a cobbled medieval old town, “Must-See” Cathedral of San Salvador, “Must-See” Museum of Fine Arts etc etc and …. 180 Sculptures dotted around the streets, plazas & parks.

One web site asks “who is he? where has he returned from? … the artist never provided any clues.
