I had such a good sleep on Saturday that I was almost late down for breakfast and they didn’t stop serving until 10:30 😁
Ribadeo was an interesting place to stop and there were plenty of things to see, even though it wasn’t ideal being a Sunday. Rest and relaxation was the order of the day and I think that was achieved to our satisfaction.
It was a surprise that there were definite Indian influences in the town and apparently this was due to Spaniards travelling out to India, making their fortunes and then coming back with Indian ideas and experiences.

So, refreshed and raring to go, we set off down Galicia, heading directly now for Santiago. It was surprisingly hot again today as the last week or so we could feel it cooling down as October arrived but today it was full sunshine and was reaching 25° in what little shade there was.
I’ve really been amazed at how many eucalyptus forests we’ve walked through during this Camino and today was no exception
The mature eucalyptus trees are very tall and straight
They do seem to harvest these trees but I’m not sure what eucalyptus wood can be used for. You very rarely actually seem to come across anything made from the wood, either at home or in Spain itself.
Here’s some pictures I took along the way

Spending the night at Lourenza tonight. There’s not a lot here but it does have a lovely ‘Monasterio’
Benedictine monastery of San Salvador
Very intricate inside the monastery
Another 18 miles tomorrow but that should be our last long day of the trip (thankfully)
All downhill after today (Tuesday) Derek – last big walk day! 😊
Wow! Unlike you to lie in so late, you obviously needed it – not enough I see to miss breakfast though! 😄
Yet again, lovely photos! Happy walking! 😊 Sue C
