A good breakfast at 07:30, check the weather outside, heavy mist and dark grey skies. Check the weather forecast “Abadin, present conditions – sunshine’. Check the actual weather again, mmmm, they obviously weren’t in the same Abadin I was in this morning ๐ฌ. No rain though and the sun did eventually just about break through about 11:30. Just about everything we owned was still slightly damp this morning and it was an obvious topic of conversation when we met up with Mario and Julie, a Canadian/Italian couple who we’ve been meeting and chatting with frequently over the last few weeks. “Everything dried out ?” I asked, to which we got the sheepish reply “Erm, actually we caught the bus once it started raining, we’ve never seen so many pilgrims on a bus” ๐ฒ๐ฎ.
What is the pilgrim world coming to ? ๐

It was a lovely walk today, hardly any tarmac but lots of good old forest and country tracks. A lot easier on the feet. Lots of pilgrims to talk to on the way and, very unusually, the coffee and lunch stops were just about perfectly spaced out as well.

I thought I would throw in some photos of crosses encountered today because it’s been quite noticeable that the closer we get to Santiago, the more of these are appearing (and they always look quite good in a photo)

Final stop today was in Vilalba, of which the Camino book says “despite the size, there is little to do and even less to see”
I think the author must have been having a bad day when he wrote that, (we all have bad days after 450 miles ๐), as once you get off the main shopping street there is certainly some interest in the town

Lie in tomorrow morning as we only have about 12 miles to walk, bliss ๐
What?! Pilgrims catching buses! Whatever next! ๐ฑ๐
Getting a good feel from your blog and photos today Derek – wonder if itโs the fact that there are more pilgrims on this stretch, lovely countryside or could it be more nicely spaced out coffee stops? Iโm thinking maybe the latter! ๐
Lovely photos again! ๐
Hope youโve dried out! Happy walking! ๐ Sue C x

Have failed to find out more about the sculpture of the man and pregnant woman carrying St. James. Maybe someone else can enlighten us.
