The Albergue we stopped in last night, (winner of the Albergue with the comfiest beds award as far as I’m concerned ๐), was on a farm and a calf had been born there just the night before

I learnt through a Spanish girl who was talking to the farmer about the calf that it has to be kept indoors overnight due to the WOLVES!!!๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฎ.
Apparently the lovely forests we’ve been walking through these last few days contain wolves and wild boars.

We decided to walk further than originally planned today due to the very heavy rain forecast for tomorrow (36.5mm in a day) and therefore walked past the monastery of Santa Maria at Sobrado which was a shame as it it has an Albergue in the monastery run by the monks and it would have been interesting to stop there for the night. I suspect it would have been reminiscent of the Albergue I stopped in last year run by the Nuns. Both allow the pilgrims to witness the nightly vespas and that was one of my highlights on the Camino Francis..

We now just have a short walk into Arzua tomorrow where we will join the mass throngs still walking the Camino Francis. Mixed feelings about this as it will be so different to the Camino we’ve walked so far and yet I walked through Arzua in April last year so it should bring back some good memories.
Must be close to the finish line. Enjoying your blog. Keep it coming.

Oh my! Wolves and wild boar running wild in the forests! You should have got yourselves a Spanish Mountain dog just in case!๐ฑ๐
Glad to hear you had a comfy night in the Albergue. Shame about the weather forecast forcing you to do a slightly longer walk and missing out on a night in the Albergue in Santa Maria in Sobrado. I know itโs easy for me to say, iโm not doing the walk, but maybe you should have stopped there and cut your walk short today (Sunday).
Hope there wasnโt mass hoards on your walk but then you are on the home straight so I guess itโs expected.
Happy walking! ๐ Sue C
