Day 38 Boimil to Arzua 8.3ml 623ft – Total 541.6ml 62303ft

Well, I suppose it’s good to know that the Spanish weather forecasts are as bad as ours back home. After yellow warnings for heavy rain and strong winds, all we had this morning was an occasional light drizzle, (although we did get soaked tonight looking for somewhere to eat 🙂)
The forecast was that bad for this morning I packed my camera away, thinking I wouldn’t be able to use it in that weather so I’m afraid there’s a definite dearth of photos tonight.
At least we managed to have a bit of a lie in and very nice relaxed breakfast before setting off into the non-existent rain.
Although only a short distance I think it was all tarmac today, however, after walking on so much tarmac over the last six weeks we can take that in our stride now so it was no big deal.I felt all this was missing was a skeleton sitting in the corner, waiting for the bus that never came ☹️

We came into Arzua from a completely different direction than I came in last year so I didn’t recognize it until we got the main street. Last year I actually had no idea that the Norte joined the Camino Francis at this point at all and I doubt if many of the dozens of pilgrims walking through have any idea either. It was nice to be able to redirect a few of them who had missed a turn off that I knew existed from previous experience 🙂.
It’s come as a shock to Barbara how many pilgrims are walking this route now and it’s going to be a completely different Camino for the next couple of days.Nice to see the good old Galician straight line forests again 🙂

I’ve got an idea, let’s go for a stroll through town whilst it’s quiet

I was dreading meeting all these additional new fresh pilgrims last year but as it turned out I ended up quite enjoying it. It will be interesting to see if the same situation occurs this time around. I expect at this stage everyone will be sensing that they are getting close to the end and that should make for a nice atmosphere. Fingers crossed 🙂

  1. What no picture of the bar we sat outside last year?

I saw something in the last week or so about cows being almost sacred in Galicia, so if the cows want to go to town, to town they will go 🤣😂
