Day 39 Arzua to O’Pedrouzo 14.6ml 1254ft – Total 556.2ml 63557ft

Well it may not have rained yesterday but it made up for that today, and some β˜”. All my pictures are soggy today but not as soggy as my socks. Walking sandals have been great for 99% of the time but certainly have their downside when walking through running water.

Penultimate day today though, as we have arrived at O’Pedrouzo, so it doesn’t really matter what the weather throws at us now 😁. O’Pedrouzo really doesn’t have much going for it but it is a convenient place to stop for tomorrow’s walk. And of course tomorrow we will be walking into Santiago.

You may or may not be interested to hear I have 2 toes that look a right mess at the moment, plus a blister forming on my heel plus a strange sore spot on one of my big toes. No photos but they can be provided in exchange for a cheque made out to my local chiropodist. Barbara is having no foot problems to speak of (most unfair ☹️).

I enjoyed walking with all the other pilgrims today. It’s great fun exchanging our experiences and thoughts. Most seemed to be coping ok with the torrential rain, although I’m far from convinced about the efficiency of the ponchos that most of them seem to plump for. Give me a gortex jacket and trousers anytime. I must admit though, that I was a bit surprised at how wet I still managed to get underneath the waterproofs.

Here’s some soggy pictures from todays walk but it looks as though my lens was wet for some of them, sorry about that πŸ™‚.

Soggy peregrinos in the rain
Wall of wisdom
Restaurant made up of a thousand signed bottles. (I wasn’t keen on this to be honest)
A good use for old boots
Lovely weather for sandals
New tree of the day. An Indian bean tree
A lovely mural as we were coming into O’Pedrouzo

Disappointingly the Casa Verde cafe where I obtained my hand drawn credential stamp last year has now permanently closed down. It’s a real shame, however, as Barbara pointed out, it means that the one I did manage to get last year is a real rarity 😁.

Look out Santiago, here we come 😁😁
